If you love dogs and especially sweet loving warm hearted ones a Basset Hound could be the dog for you. Basset Hounds make great pets for either single people or families with children. They don't require a great deal of space but do enjoy and require exercise. It is important to have them exercise because of their great love for food and eating it. Basset Hounds will eat most food that is given to them. That is not always a great idea. Eating too much of the wrong food will make your hound sick. That brings us to the meat of this article. First, your dogs food should contain nutrients that are similar to those that are found in a natural environment of what the breed has become use to eating over generations. You want to feed them food that is easy for them to digest and is good for their glandular system.
Second, certain things have become necessary for your animal to eat over generations in order to maintain your dogs health. These things include the right amount of protein, carbohydrates, fatty acids, vitamins and minerals.
Third, if you pet is not given the proper nutrition it can cause many health issues such as : dry/itchy/flaky skin, hot spots, yeast infections in their ears, thyroid, liver and kidney problems and many more. If your dog is fed properly you can save money on high Vet bills.
